New advertising highlights the support available to those affected by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
December 16, 2021 – Toronto, ON
Crohn’s and Colitis Canada launches new advertising based on the insight that many people affected by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often feel alone on their journey.
The multimedia campaign includes online, print, television and radio formats in English and in French. The goal of the campaign is to introduce Crohn’s and Colitis Canada and the community of support available for those affected by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Whether it’s learning about the diseases, joining a webinar, finding out about the latest research or participating with thousands of others in Gutsy Walk – a community of support awaits those affected by Crohn’s or colitis. “You’re Not Alone on Your Journey” was developed by production and creative shop, Studio M.
In Canada, 300,000 people live with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, chronic forms of inflammatory bowel disease with no known cure. Canada has one of the highest rates in the world ¬— with one person diagnosed every hour. Crohn’s and colitis are sometimes referred to as “invisible diseases” since they may not be obvious from a person’s appearance — and speaking about symptoms like stomach pain or bloody diarrhea can be difficult — yet the numbers are significant: one in 140 Canadians is diagnosed with IBD, and many young adults get diagnosed in their late teens or early 20s. Most people living with the disease also experience intense and ongoing abdominal pain from ulceration and internal bleeding, while coping with disease‐related depression and fatigue.
